Fix Your Brand’s Identity Crisis

You’re staring at the blinking cursor, drafting your next LinkedIn post about your company’s work culture. You’ve heard it’s a great way to boost engagement, and a lot hinges on this moment. We’re talking inquisitive comments, overflowing DMs, and a dizzying demand for discovery calls.

But here’s the catch: countless brands have tried this same tactic, with more touting how wonderful it is to work where they do. Frustrated, you abandon the post, leaving it to the gurus who effortlessly narrate their brands’ origin stories for instant clicks.

Welcome to your identity crisis.

A voice shapes the arch of a story that invites audiences to engage deeply, much like reading a poem or listening to an old friend. In a noisy era—filled with cloned trends, buzzwords, and ‘hooks’—finding a voice that feels vibrant, authoritative, and trustworthy is challenging.

We’ll share frameworks to help you rediscover that missing spark in your social media posts and figure out a way to use AI in your writing without losing that human touch.

Also, insights on engaging with your social media followers.

Setting the Tone Right

The right tone sets the ball rolling on identifying the most appropriate voice for your brand. This can be done with the help of a simple template:

  • Content-Type: What are you writing?

  • Reader: Who are you talking to?

  • Reader Feelings: What do they feel when you talk to them in this tone?

  • Your Tone: Adjectives that describe how you should sound

  • Write Like This: Brief overview of how the writing should sound.

  • Tips: Explain best practices for writing this scenario.

Once these ideas have been fleshed out, feel free to fill out this template and use it as a prompt.

Example: I want to focus on writing a post that piques the interest of marketing professionals. I want to peg facts about labour laws to promote EffiGenie, an AI tool that helps users maximize their productivity by completing tasks more efficiently.

🤖✨ AI PROMPT

  • Content-Type: Tweets

  • Reader: Potential customers, marketing professionals

  • Reader Feelings: Eager and engaged to find interesting content and information

  • Your Tone Should Be: Helpful, informative, clear, approachable

  • Write Like This: “Did You Know: The 8-hour workday was invented to help people work less? We have the story here.”

  • Tips: Use lots of questions. Avoid sounding authoritative. Invite others to learn and discover.

The $1.80 Strategy of Engaging Followers

Three years ago, an exceptional marketer and pioneer in understanding the psychology of online users, GaryVee created a formula for boosting constructive engagement.

Its philosophy is rooted in reciprocity (cheerlead others on social media so they return the favour, giving you visibility on platforms.)

The “Dollar Eighty” has a simple and memorable formula:

10 hashtags X Top 9 Posts x $0.02 = $1.80

Which means:

  • Identify the top 10 hashtags which your potential customers are following.

  • Click on 9 top trending posts in that hashtag.

  • Leave your 2 cents (thoughts) on each of the nine posts.

  • Two cents times nine posts times ten hashtags equal $1.80.

Our prompting exercise with Perplexity AI

We nudged AI with our prompt. And it delivered a series of tweets that sound like a human advocating for work-life balance. So lifelike, you can’t not relate.

As for the commenting strategy…

Within two weeks of deploying the low-maintenance dollar eighty strategies for a client, G2M strategist Liel Anisenko claimed she witnessed unimaginable results.

  • Profile visits + 100%

  • Website taps + 61.1%

  • Email button taps +50%

But Remember, your comment needs to be of the highest quality for this to work well.

If you’re promoting a niche product, you’ll have to be patient with results (unlike Anisenko who got lucky promoting a popular product worldwide with expansive geo-targeting)
